Dr. Myava Clark is a dedicated advocate and educator with a diverse background in respiratory therapy and higher education. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biology with a Concentration in Respiratory Therapy and a Ph.D. in Professional Studies specializing in Higher Education and Leadership & Administration. Her career initially began in the field of respiratory therapy, where she developed a passion for patient care and education. However, her journey took a more personal and impactful turn as she navigated the special education system for her son, Chris.
Inspired by her experiences, Dr. Clark co-founded CASEN (Collaborative Advancement for Social-Emotional Needs) with her son. CASEN is dedicated to helping children aged 9-13, particularly those with learning differences, stay safe online. Through this initiative, Dr. Clark has seamlessly merged her professional expertise with her personal advocacy, ensuring that children have the tools they need to navigate the digital world safely.
Dr. Clark is also deeply committed to supporting mothers of children with learning differences. She founded the Mothers of Exceptional Kids (MOEK) Support Group, a community designed to provide guidance, empowerment, and self-care strategies for mothers facing the unique challenges of raising children with special needs. Her work extends beyond advocacy—she actively equips mothers with the necessary tools to strengthen their bonds with their children, advocate for their educational needs, and promote emotional well-being within their families.
As a mother of two adult children, Dr. Clark understands firsthand the struggles and triumphs of parenting a child with unique abilities. Through her work with CASEN and MOEK, she continues to be a beacon of support, helping families navigate the complexities of parenting, education, and online safety. Her dedication and passion for empowering families have made her a sought-after speaker, mentor, and advocate in the field of digital safety and strengthening the bond between families.
Empowering Mothers Through MOEK
CASEN has recently taken a significant step forward with the launch of the Mothers of Exceptional Kids (MOEK) Support Group. This initiative has become a movement, positively impacting mothers of children with unique abilities by focusing on advocacy, education, and self-care.
MOEK provides a safe and supportive space where mothers can share experiences, gain valuable insights, and receive emotional support. One of the core messages of MOEK is self-care, emphasizing that protecting one’s mental and emotional well-being is not selfish but essential. Through interactive workshops, group discussions, and coaching, mothers learn how to maintain their inner peace, set boundaries, and prioritize their mental health while balancing the demands of parenting.
In addition to emotional support, MOEK offers practical guidance on navigating the special education system. Mothers receive training on how to advocate for their children’s needs in school, including understanding IEPs (Individualized Education Programs), 504 Plans, and early intervention programs. This knowledge empowers them to secure the necessary educational resources for their children.
MOEK also places a strong emphasis on mental health awareness and therapy options, connecting mothers and families with professional support services. These resources have been instrumental in strengthening family relationships, fostering character development in children, and creating resilient and compassionate future leaders.
Furthermore, the group encourages community-building, reinforcing the power of support networks and fostering connections among mothers facing similar challenges. The integration of healthy habits, nutrition, and personal well-being ensures that mothers not only feel empowered emotionally but also physically. MOEK has provided mothers with tools to balance work, family, self-care, and education, enabling them to lead fulfilled and successful lives.
MOEK is more than a support group—it is a lifeline for mothers navigating the complexities of raising children with unique abilities. Dr. Clark’s vision for MOEK is to continue expanding its reach, ensuring that every mother has access to the tools, community, and encouragement they need to thrive.
